A neighbor you know. A leader you can trust.
Ken Salway is a former math teacher, longtime Chanhassen resident, and business professional ready to bring real accountability — and genuine classroom experience — to the ISD 112 school board.
Five priorities for ISD 112
These aren't partisan goals — they're community goals. Every decision Ken makes on the board will be measured against these five commitments.
✓Fiscal Accountability
Every dollar in the district budget came from a family in this community. Ken will push for clear, plain-English budget reporting, honest levy conversations, and spending that reaches the classroom first.
✓Academic Excellence
Reading, writing, and math come first. Ken supports rigorous standards, honest measurement of student outcomes, and a relentless focus on preparing every student for college, career, or trade.
✓School Safety
Students can't learn — and teachers can't teach — in a building that doesn't feel safe. Ken supports secure facilities, clear discipline policies that are enforced consistently, and strong partnerships with local law enforcement.
✓Parental Transparency
Parents are partners, not spectators. Ken will work to make curriculum, materials, and district decisions easy to find and easy to understand — no surprises, no runaround.
✓Supporting Teachers
Ken has stood at the front of a classroom. He knows great schools start with respected, well-supported teachers — which means fewer mandates from above and more practical backing where it counts.
"I've stood at the front of a classroom. I know what great schools take — and I know our kids in ISD 112 deserve nothing less."— Ken Salway
A neighbor, a father, and a former teacher ready to serve
I've spent my life working hard, raising a family, and helping businesses and people grow. I'm not a career politician — I'm a neighbor who understands the challenges parents in our community face every day.
I spent three years teaching Algebra II and Algebra II Honors. I know what teachers need, what students deserve, and what great schools require — because I've lived it from inside the classroom.
Since then, my career in business development and sales leadership has been built on responsibility, trust, and results. I live and work in the communities ISD 112 serves — Chanhassen, Chaska, Carver, Victoria, and beyond. This is my school district too.
I will always put students before politics and focus on what truly matters: school safety, academic excellence, parental transparency, and real support for our teachers.
